“Thank you” is thankfully not a foreign sound to our prayers. And yet, our thanksgiving to God is often still lacking. In 1 Thessalonians 1:2-3 we find a quality thanksgiving prayer.
We give thanks to God always for all of you, constantly mentioning you in our prayers, remembering before our God and Father your work of faith and labour of love and steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.
Obviously, first and foremost, quality Christian thanksgiving is always directed to God.
We give thanks to God
Second, quality Christian thanksgiving is continual. We give thanks not only it times of blessing, but at all times.
We give thanks to God always for all of you, constantly mentioning you in our prayers,
Third, quality Christian thanksgiving is specific. It is good to give thanks generally for all things, but quality Christian thanksgiving mentions individual items in the prayer.
We give thanks to God always for all of you, constantly mentioning you in our prayers,
Fourth, quality Christian thanksgiving is spiritual. Truly we are grateful to the Lord for daily bread, clothing, protection, and the myriads of myriads of other earthly blessings. But it is the spiritual realities of life that stir up the deepest gratitude.
We give thanks to God always for all of you, constantly mentioning you in our prayers, remembering before our God and Father your work of faith and labour of love and steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.
Let us never grow weary of thanking our Lord!
