Most of us would never be considered a Very Important Person (VIP) in this world’s terms. Instead we follow them on social media, in magazines, and through informal gossip channels. Although God predominately chooses the lowly in life to be witnesses to His nature and His works (1 Cor 1:26-28), He has at times revealed Himself in a very clear way to some VIPs. When this happened, the various individuals used their VIP platform to acknowledge that the LORD God is indeed the true VIP in their respective spheres.
Job, one of the most influential businessmen of his time had known God for a long time, but when God revealed more of Himself to Job, then Job, the VIP, testified that only the LORD really accomplishes all He sets out to do.
Then Job answered the LORD and said: “I know that you can do all things, and that no purpose of yours can be thwarted.”
Job 42:1-2
King Nebuchadnezzar, political ruler of a world power of his day looked over the many kingdoms that he had incorporated into his own kingdom, but said this about God’s kingdom.
… his dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom endures from generation to generation; all the inhabitants of the earth are accounted as nothing, and he does according to his will among the host of heaven and among the inhabitants of the earth; and none can stay his hand or say to him, “What have you done?”
Daniel 4:34-35
King Darius, the subsequent world power after Nebuchadnezzar, realised the same about God’s kingdom.
… he is the living God, enduring forever; his kingdom shall never be destroyed, and his dominion shall be to the end.
Daniel 6:26
Likewise, although not in true faith, the mighty Pharaoh of Egypt affirmed God’s justice and righteousness when the LORD hailed down judgment on him and his people.
Then Pharaoh sent and called Moses and Aaron and said to them, “This time I have sinned; the LORD is in the right, and I and my people are in the wrong.
Exodus 9:27
King Rehoboam and the princes of Israel acknowledged the same when they were promised judgment for their sins.
Then the princes of Israel and the king humbled themselves and said, “The LORD is righteous.”
2 Chronicles 12:6
All of these, and they are not the only ones, were Very Important Persons in their respective fields, and all of them acknowledged that when it comes to the true VIP in their fields of expertise, that the LORD has got it all figured out, and all that He does is right, and nobody can argue with that.
