Scripture teaches that there is only one true God and that this God is One—God does not exist in many different forms or deities (Deut 6:4).
However, God is not alone but exists in a plurality (Gen 1:26). God eternally exists in three different persons namely, God the Father (Matt 6:9), God the Son (Jesus Christ) (Col 2:9), and God the Holy Spirit (2 Cor 3:3) (Matt 28:19).
Although each person of the Trinity is completely and perfectly God in essence and nature—and therefore equally worthy of worship and obedience—each Person fulfils a different role in their individual relationship to each other and to their creation (Col 1:19-20; 2 Cor 2:11; 1 Pet 1:2).
