By Someone recently said that prayers in church should be long enough so that the false worshipers get bored. There is indeed a lot of truth to that statement. It is the kind of statement that can easily be abused, but to the pure worshiper, it is a statement that renews a right spirit of worship from within. Public prayers are indeed something not only to hear, but to echo as an expression of your own heart when your own words and understanding of God might seem weak and insufficient for the worship of the Divine.
Public acts of worship with the Church are indeed the pinnacle of our human existence. The attention to spiritual things through song and prayer, coupled with the intense absorption with God’s Revelation to us is something that, as the cliche goes, we take for granted.
May the words of an anonymous song-writer be a primer in your attitude for church.
