In all the privacy concerns of the internet, one is forced to think of what would happen if every detail of your online activity were exposed to the world. Does that thought make you cringe, or will that action vindicate you?
Now, go beyond your online activity, and consider your heart motives? Would you cringe if God turned on the light to expose the thoughts and intentions of your heart, or would you be vindicated?
Light and darkness are vivid images used frequently in Scripture. Light is the realm where truth shines forth brightly, godliness is practised, and righteousness thrives. Darkness is the realm where deception obscures, wicked deeds are performed, and sinfulness feels good.
Jesus spoke of judgement in terms of light – will this judgement condemn you, or vindicate you? Are your works evil or carried out in God?
And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed. But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God.”
