We know that God is against the wicked and will condemn them for all eternity, but at times we feel God is against us who believe too and holds every little sin and foolish decision against us. God is not vindictive. God does not promise “No Condemnation!” (Rom 8:1) and still somehow make us suffer for what we do. God might discipline us at times, but that is always like a father with his son – clear discipline for the sake of maturing. Even in the discipline, there is still “No Condemnation!”. We rightly feel sorrow over sin, but we ought never to feel that God is displeased with us or temporarily against us until we have suffered enough. We wrongly treat our human relationships like that; it is also wrong to think of our heavenly relationship like that.

Ponder the wonderful truths expressed in the following verses.

the LORD takes pleasure in his people;
he adorns the humble with salvation.

Psalm 149:4

Great is the LORD who delights in the welfare of his servant!

Psalm 35:27

the LORD takes pleasure in those who fear him

Psalm 147:11

those of blameless ways are the LORD’s delight

Proverbs 11:20

The LORD your God is in your midst,
a mighty one who will save;
he will rejoice over you with gladness;
he will quiet you by his love;
he will exult over you with loud singing

Zephaniah 3:17

Fear the Lord in your thoughts and actions, but do not be in dread of the Lord. God has shed His love on all who believe, and His wrath that is due them has fallen on Another.
