By The Apostle John is certainly not known for brevity or conciseness. But in a single verse John captures for us the entire earthly life of Jesus, and the opening four words describe his birth.
And the Word became flesh
John 1:14
and dwelt among us,
and we have seen his glory,
glory as of the only Son from the Father,
full of grace and truth.
“the Word” – Jesus is the pre-existing expression of God, being Himself fully God (John 1:1, 18). “became flesh” – Luke tells of all the events, John reveals the essence, namely, that the One Who is God, is now also man – full Deity and full humanity.

Meditate on that this week, remembering His earthly life, ministry, death, resurrection, ascension and return!
