By There is one authority in a Christian’s life that is not directly addressed in the book of Proverbs simply because it is an authority only revealed in the New Testament. However, it too comes with a little wisdom package to direct your thoughts and behaviour. This unique New Testament authority in a Christian’s life is the local church.
To be a wise churchman or churchwoman is really very simple:
- attend faithfully (Hebrews 10:24-25)
- build others up spiritually (1 Thessalonians 5:11; Titus 3:8)
- respect and imitate the elders when it comes to matters not clearly revealed in Scripture, but still requiring great wisdom and guidance (1 Thessalonians 5:12-13a; Hebrews 13:7; Hebrews 13:17)
