In Acts 17 Paul uses the theology of God as Creator to explain the physical circumstances of the people he was ministering too. They were not even believers, but still, God had ordained their circumstances with purposeful goodness.

The God who made the world and everything in it, being Lord of heaven and earth, does not live in temples made by man, nor is he served by human hands, as though he needed anything, since he himself gives to all mankind life and breath and everything. And he made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place, that they should seek God, and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him. Yet he is actually not far from each one of us,

Acts 17:24-27

Here is a rephrasing of the truth of that passage in summary form. I trust it will be a comfort to you as you live on the spot that God has appointed for you today.

God made this world and God made you. He is not in need of anything and provides all our daily needs (like air to breathe!) God made Adam and from Adam made us spread across the face of the earth. God determined and appointed when each would be alive and where each would live. The purpose behind this Creator-act was so that each person would have enough circumstantial reason to turn to God and find Him.

This is a great message for your unbelieving friends, family, and neighbours, and the rest of Acts 17 completes the Gospel presentation. This is also a great message for us who have already repented and received assurance of having found God. God has placed you in this moment of world history and God has placed you at your GPS coordinates for today. His purpose is to prepare you for eternity. Surely that makes all our earthly happenings more than worth it!
