By The Apostle Paul maintained a clear conscience in ministry be ensuring that he preached the truth of God (2 Corinthians 2:17), the whole truth of God (Acts 20:27), and nothing but the truth of God (1 Corinthians 2:2).
Yet we all have holes in our Bible knowledge. Some of it is to blame on the reality that so many elders in so many churches do not share the conviction in ministry that Paul so clearly maintained. But, as Paul seems to indicate, it is not always the preacher’s fault.
Therefore I testify to you this day that I am innocent of the blood of all, for I did not shrink from declaring to you the whole counsel of God. Pay careful attention to yourselves
Acts 20:26-28
Paying careful attention to the church you attend and the consistency of your attendance is crucially important for a full knowledge of God and His purposes for you. There is a reason why good churches follow some form of systematic teaching through the Scriptures. There is a reason why a good Sunday School curriculum has a united thread through all their lessons. It is those who always attend every such Sunday School class who are well prepared for adult life. It is those who always attend every such church service who over a period of time turn out to be the most stable and mature Christians.
Well has many a pastor testified to the fact that maturity comes one Sunday at a time; more than it does at key events. Similarly, it is those who compromise their conviction about a Bible-teaching church for various reasons who end up with large holes in their knowledge of God, and often without even knowing it.
Are you innocent of the blood of all, including yourself, because you did not shrink from persisting in the whole counsel of God? Pay attention to yourselves and to the church you attend.
