Do you have a plan to die? Probably not, since death is considered more of an inevitable end than a purposeful end. The Apostle Paul, however, planned to die. Not in the sense of suicide or euthanasia, but in the sense of living with a post-death purpose. He revealed his plan to die in these words.
knowing that he who raised the Lord Jesus will raise us also with Jesus and bring us with you into his presence. For it is all for your sake, so that as grace extends to more and more people it may increase thanksgiving, to the glory of God.
2 Corinthians 4:14-15 (ESV)
Paul was living, so he could die, so we can all worship God.
Paul, knowing that God raised Jesus from the dead and will raise him too from the dead, knew that one day we will all be together in the presence of Jesus. Therefore, before dying, Paul lived his life in such a way that many people would experience the saving grace of God, so that, when they too die and are added to the presence of the others with Jesus, the thanksgiving will increase even more. The glory of God was the goal of Paul’s life before death, and also the goal of Paul’s life after death.
Paul’s plan to die was to increase the worship in Heaven. To do that he lived, spreading the grace of God everywhere so as to increase the number of worshipers in Heaven, and then, he himself planned to join the chorus through death, to be himself a witness of how much thanksgiving can be given to the praise of God’s greatness.
Will you live with that post-death plan too?
