This verse ends this wonderful eleven-verse call to a humble consideration of one another. Our Lord Jesus is truly our example of humble consideration among mankind, and what His example so striking is not only that He was a man just like us, but that He is also the Lord of all. Truly it makes us think all over again of how the Master, Jesus, showed humble consideration to the Twelve in washing their feet before the Last Supper.
Because of His great self-humbling, God exalted Jesus to the highest position in the universe (Phil 2:9). Subsequently, every person has a two-fold obligation to Jesus. The first is the obligation to submit to Jesus (Phil 2:10). The second is in verse 11.
and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.Philippians 2:11 (ESV)
Every knee should bow to Jesus’ greatness, and secondly, every tongue should confess to Jesus’ Lordship.
We often say that everything is “to the glory of God”. If you want that to be true, then confess Jesus as the Lord of your life. Simply put, this verse means that every person should say that Jesus is the boss of their lives, so everyone will know how great God is.
