For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ,
2 Corinthians 10:3-5
Although this passage does not list “the weapons of our warfare” (See Ephesians 6 for that), it does show us the effect of true spiritual warfare. Very simply, you engage in true spiritual warfare when you discern and combat everything that is said against God, and when you take obedience so seriously, that you want to obey Christ at even the thought level.
A victorious Christian is simply a Christian who knows God so well that he can easily spot something false about God, and he knows God’s Word so well that he can refute and correct any falsehood about God. Also, a victorious Christian is simply a Christian who loves Jesus so much that he wants to please Jesus in all that he does, not only in the external practise of religion, but also in the heart attitudes and patterns of thinking that dominate his life.
What great work of truth and love will be shown by the Church if this was the approach to spiritual warfare by every ‘man of God’ claiming to do great things for God! What great work of truth and love can be shown by the Church when each of us approach spiritual warfare with these verses as our goal!
