By One of the groups of society that are changed as a result of the Gospel is the women in our societies. Because of the inherent sinful nature in all men, women are naturally often degraded, abused or neglected. Countries governed by what Scripture would call false religions, often have horrific laws regarding women. For example, it is OK for a man to have many wives, but a wife gets stoned to death for suspected infidelity. Countries governed by materialistic capitalism often have laws protecting the abused and neglected women, but sadly equally degrade women by enticing them away from their husbands and children promising a greater fulfillment in anything else besides their primary Divinely designed role.
It is only the Gospel which truly changes women’s lives for the better. In the great exposé of faith in Hebrews 11 we find two women named by name (Sarah and Rahab) as well as a general reference to countless other women of the faith.
And in Hebrews 11:38, God says, of all these heroes of the faith, including the many women, God says:
[these are men and women] of whom the world was not worthy.
Some of the women in the Scriptures are specifically mentioned because of their strong faith and, as a result, were worth more than any world system could possibly promise a woman. Women of greatness according to the Scriptures are the women who live their lives in light of the effect that true faith has on them. Faith becomes the standard by which all women should live if they want to find fulfillment in this life and be a woman of whom the world is not even worthy. Some of the women of faith are known for their godliness because of exceptional unique events. However, many of the great women of faith in the Scriptures have their names forever etched on the pages of Scripture because of simple, ordinary, daily acts of godliness daily allowing the sound doctrine of the pure Gospel of Jesus Christ to affect their daily thinking and habits.

Acts 16:14-15
A single woman, a business women, taking it upon herself to take care of those who, according to Scripture, are “worthy of double honour” – those who ministered the glorious Gospel to her.
1 Peter 3:4-6
A married woman, a famous one in this case, lifted up, not because of the miraculous conception of the son of promise, but simply for doing good by recognising her husband as the God-given authority in her life.
Hebrews 11:31
A women of dubious character is able to welcome two men into her house with no sinful motive because she had gotten to know the God Who is Sovereign over all and therefore distinguished herself from those who were disobedient.
The Gospel changes the life of every woman who has heard sound doctrine and submitted to it gladly. The church of Jesus Christ remains a healthy church when the women in the church are affected by the sound doctrine of the Gospel.
Older women likewise are to be reverent in behaviour, not slanderers or slaves to much wine. They are to teach what is good, and so train the young women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled.
