By Admiring another can be done in many wrong ways, but that does not mean that admiring another human being interferes with one’s worship of God. God requires of us to admire other people. He specifically lists both the kind of people we ought to admire, and the manner in which we practise our admiration. Admiring a celebrity by gawking at them and adding to their celebrity-ness is wrong both in the reasons you chose that person and in the manner in which you admire them.
Instead, admire the godly, and do so by imitation. Righteous admiration of another is done by selecting the right individuals to admire – the godly, and then performing the right actions of admiration – imitation. Ask yourself “Who are the godliest people I know?” and then ask yourself “How will they deal with my issues today?”
What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.
