By Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many,
Hebrews 9:28
will appear a second time, not to deal with sin
but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.
A simple question today: “Do you long for Christ’s second coming?”
Often it is a desire for justice in this wicked world that prompts prayers for Christ to return. Hebrews 9:28 gives us a very different reason. Christ will return, indeed, to bring judgment on the world, but first, He will save those who are eagerly waiting for him.
Wickedness will be judged, but of far greater significance to Christians is that believers will be perfected.
Beloved, we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is.
1 John 3:2
Do you long for Christ’s second coming? Do you raise your head from your pillow today with “Come, Lord Jesus!” (Revelation 22:20)?
