In Job 27:2-6 a gold nugget of a Biblical response to life is found. It is part of Job’s defense against false accusations in light of his suffering.

Job speaks of trials – those external circumstances that, as part of God’s Providence, are sent to test and refine us. He acknowledges that God is the overseer of his extreme trial.

As God lives, who has taken away my right,
and the Almighty, who has made my soul bitter,

In light of that, Job confesses that the breath of life is still a gift from God too.

as long as my breath is in me,
and the spirit of God is in my nostrils,

Therefore, he will not give in to the temptation to agree to deceit and lies.

my lips will not speak falsehood,
and my tongue will not utter deceit.
Far be it from me to say that you are right;

So, be it heavenly orchestrated trials of life, or personal temptations to sin, he will maintain his righteous integrity.

till I die I will not put away my integrity from me.
I hold fast my righteousness and will not let it go;

His integrity is the cause for his clear conscience.

my heart does not reproach me for any of my days.

Counsel your heart today as Job counseled his heart that day.
