Christianity is the only religion that restores our broken relationship with God (John 14:6).
In the beginning, when God created everything, God also made the first two people, Adam and Eve (Genesis 1:27). They had a perfect relationship with God, their Creator.
They, however choose to disobey God. God, being a just God, punished them for their sin (Genesis 3). Since Adam and Eve sinned, every person, including you and me, has sinned too (Romans 3:23). Our relationship with God is broken. We all are going to die one day, and appear before God for judgement (Hebrews 9:27). Because of our sin we will be thrown into hell forever. (Matthew 25:41)
God has, because of His great mercy, provided a way that our relationship with Him can be restored.
God sent His only Son, Jesus, to die for our sin. Sin is punishable by eternal death (Romans 6:23), but Jesus, who never sinned, paid our penalty. God’s written word, the Bible, says that without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sin. (Hebrews 9:22) That is why Jesus was crucified. His blood flowed in order to be an acceptable punishment for our sin. Jesus, through His death, made it possible for sinners like you and me to be restored to our Creator (2 Corinthians 5:21). Our hostility to God because of our sin, can be turned into having God as our spiritual Father. Jesus is the only reconciler (1 Timothy 2:5).
Jesus’ death doesn’t automatically restore our relationship with God. We must believe that God sent Jesus to die for our sin, and we must confess Jesus as our personal Saviour (Romans 10:9-10).
We can only be saved from eternal hell if we acknowledge that we are sinners by nature, acknowledge that we can’t save ourselves, and ask Jesus to forgive our sins and restore us to God. (1 John 1:8-9)
Jesus promised not to turn you away if you ask Him to forgive your sin and to restore you to God. Living a life according to God’s rules will not always be easy, but God promises in the Bible that He will send you His Holy Spirit to strengthen you (John 14:15-16). Count the costs of being a Christian, but don’t ignore this warning. The Bible says it is appointed for man once to die, and after that comes the judgement (Hebrews 9:27).
Make right with God. Get yourself a Bible and read it all. Then find a church that preaches the Bible, and learn how to worship Jesus Christ.
